The Whitehot Magazine family never approached it as an alternative or outsider "project" our intention from the very beginning was to create a new art magazine at the highest level, not an alternative blog or artist run blog. But we have retained our roots and publish things from the so called alternative world and high art scene on a regular basis. Our curatorial launch festival was also a high level curatorial initiative undertaken by Jan Van Woensel in Sept 2007, in New York City, in conjunction with the rise of new galleries on the Lower East side. The concept of an online art magazine was a pioneering effort by the international Whitehot family at that time. Authorship of ideas is fluid in the current online environment with ideas and images distributed like a digital wild west. We are still moving forward at a rapid pace with no sign of slowing down. When the paradigm shift in the art world began (from print to digital) things began to change. Whitehot took a drastic step at that juncture bringing in a large number of new critics, artists and curators forward.
